About

New York

LIGHTS. CAMERA. TAKE ACTION!

At the Wildlife Conservation Society, our mission is to protect wildlife and wild places. Over the past decade, WCS proudly served as a founding partner of the New York WILD Film Festival that connected people to nature through impactful storytelling. This year, at the beginning of Earth Month 2025, we’re excited to introduce REEL WILD NEW YORK, a festival showcasing independent filmmakers who share our commitment to conservation and bringing viewers closer to the awesome and fragile beauty of our planet..

At WCS, we believe that film can be more than entertainment – it’s a catalyst for change. This year’s curated screenings and our return to a juried festival in 2026 will bring the WILD to New York City, igniting conversations and actions aligned with our mission.

OUR HISTORY AND MISSION

WCS combines the power of its zoos and an aquarium in New York City and a Global Conservation Program in more than 50 countries to achieve its mission to save wildlife and wild places. WCS runs the world's largest conservation field program, protecting more than 50 percent of Earth's known biodiversity; in partnership with governments, Indigenous People, Local Communities, and the private sector. Its four zoos and aquarium (the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and the New York Aquarium) welcome more than 3.5 million visitors each year, inspiring generations to care for nature.
