Vanessa Rathbone, MESM
Conservation Planning Scientist
Vanessa Rathbone, MESM, is a Conservation Planning Scientist on the Global Spatial Planning Team at Wildlife Conservation Society. Her background is in environmental science and management with a focus on marine spatial planning and strategic scientific communications. Much of her current work focuses on using various global and local dataset along with technical and strategic support to inform climate adaptation solutions, develop integrated marine spatial plans and assist WCS country programs in identifying critical land and seascapes to reach their 30x30 targets and develop resilient, long-term conservation solutions. Before WCS, Vanessa worked in communications, marketing and design as a strategist for sustainable brands, foundations and on Colorado’s sustainable action plan. Vanessa has an MESM from the Bren School of Environmental Science at the University of California Santa Barbara and a BA from Brown University.
