Kimheak Chhay
Community and REDD+ Manager, WCS Cambodia Program
Kimheak Chhay is a Community and REDD+ Manager for WCS’s Cambodia Program. She oversees community engagement work with a primary focus on empowering indigenous communities to exercise their land and natural resource rights and improving the well-being of the communities residing in and around the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary (KSWS) in Cambodia in alignment with the CCBA standards. She implements an approach that incentivizes conservation, upholds customary land and natural resource rights, and maximizes community benefits while encouraging active community participation in the REDD+ project. Kimheak also manages the Cash for Community (C4C) program, which utilizes revenue generated from carbon credit sales to support community development initiatives. Leading the implementation of strategies, she fosters conservation and empowers indigenous communities to exercise their land and natural resource rights, including the establishment and management of community protected areas (CPAs) and indigenous communal land titles (ICLTs).
