Global Lead of Technical Standards for Natural Climate Solutions
Kevin Brown serves as WCS’s global lead of technical standards for natural climate solutions. For over a decade Kevin has delivered technical assistance to governments, NGOs, and the private sector in the quantification of ecosystem services and greenhouse gases in the land use sector. At WCS, Kevin assists county programs to expand access to climate and natural capital finance in support of landscape conservation.
Kevin draws on deep knowledge of REDD+, voluntary carbon standards, and forest monitoring approaches to ensure that WCS’s climate finance efforts are appropriately recognized as delivering high-integrity climate mitigation. Kevin represents WCS in international fora dedicated to continuous improvement of standards for land-based carbon crediting, and is nominated by the United States as a UNFCCC expert reviewer of REDD+ reference levels. Kevin has served as a lead or supporting author to several existing and emerging crediting standards, including with Verra-VCS and the High Integrity Forests (HIFOR) initiative. Kevin is based in Washington, DC, and holds master’s degrees in Russian & Eurasian Studies and Environmental Science from the University of Michigan.
