Irina Andriambolatiana

Irina Andriambolatiana is the REDD+ and Government Liaison Advisor at WCS Madagascar, with a key role in supporting the Government of Madagascar in the development and implementation of a jurisdictional and nested REDD+ programs. Irina has contributed to initiatives to promote effective governance of forests with the Ministry of Environment, civil society organizations such as Alliance Voahary Gasy and Transparency International, and networks of investigative journalists with GIZ, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and trainers from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism, BBC and Der Spiegel.

She contributed to the legal preparedness for REDD+ in Madagascar, supported carbon projects developers in reforestation and wetlands restoration and conservation such as iTeraka and Groupe UNIMA, and advised kfW on the feasibility study of the carbon component of the Programme de Lutte antiérosive (PLAE).

One of the projects she has worked on with WCS is the sale of carbon credits generated by the Makira Natural Park. She has a Master's degree in international and comparative environmental law from the University of Limoges and a Master's degree in public law from the University of Antananarivo.
