Kim Fisher
Lead Software Engineer, MERMAID
Kim Fisher is the lead software engineer for MERMAID, the preeminent coral reef monitoring platform. He coordinates between developers, analysts, and users to develop the next generation of coral reef data software, accelerating and scaling scientifically driven coral reef conservation.
With a background in geospatial analysis and development, Kim has contributed to spatial analyses, applications, data visualizations, and scripts for various WCS programs and initiatives since 2007, notably the Human Footprint, rangewide priority setting exercises for various species, the Mannahatta Project and Visionmaker NYC, and a jaguar observations database. He has co-authored or contributed significantly to a number of publications.
Kim is a strong believer in the scientific foundation for all WCS's work, and endeavors to build open data, code, and science into all his work, using open-source languages and libraries wherever possible.
