The UK Announces Ivory Ban

The United Kingdom has just announced a national ban on the commercial ivory trade, one of the strongest bans to date.
"The world has seen a shift toward restricting ivory sales," said WCS President and CEO Cristián Samper in a statement, "with major markets including Mainland China, Hong Kong and the U.S. announcing bans in recent years. We congratulate the UK, and now urge the European Union to adopt its own domestic ivory market closure and enact the strongest ban possible that can match that announced by the UK."
